Cultural events – Montpellier Quarter
The Montpellier Quarter in Cheltenham is always a hive of activity and even more so when some of the top cultural events are taking place. The city is well-known for the emphasis it places on culture and in some cases, it is on a par with London when it comes to festivals or theatre events.
The Cheltenham literature festival always draws thousands of people to the city and as a result, many celebrated authors have appeared at the event. Hillary Clinton, Mary Berry and Miranda Hart have all been guests at the recent events. Each year, there are a variety of literature-themed lectures, workshops, and events organised across the town and the Montpellier Quarter is just the place to relax between the events.
Local theatre groups put on dramas and musicals at the city’s many theatres and there are also plenty of opportunities to see shows that have graced the West End of London. Why not come to the city at Christmas and catch a panto or support one of the local amateur theatre companies? Comedy and music events are also held in the theatres, though for some events, you need to make sure that you book your tickets in advance.
The annual jazz festival takes place in the spring each year. The event is supported by some of the biggest names in jazz music and over the course of six days, there are events in and around the city that are aimed at both jazz enthusiasts and those who are new to the genre.
